Keys for Kids
Keys for Kids is a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization operated by volunteers dedicated to inspiring youth to become involved in their communities through recycling keys.
On February 14, 2011 the original wish granting organization, the Sunshine Foundation announced that they were granting my chronically ill son a dream come true. Our family was incredibly grateful and wanted to give back to others. Two days later, Keys for Kids collected it's first keys from our neighbors and continued throughout our neighborhood.
Keys for Kids volunteers have collected, sorted, and recycled 5,240 pounds of unwanted keys and fobs. These keys have been donated from individuals, businesses, organizations, youth groups, and schools across the United States, Canada, and Australia. We appreciate the ongoing support of the 52 businesses volunteering as key collection sites within District of Columbia and Minnesota.
